Club Profile

November Profile:

 - Wayne Claridge
 - of Stoke Works FC
Name:  Wayne Claridge

Age:  26

Club:  Stoke Works

Position at club:  Left Back and team hero

Where will your team finish in the league and why:  Well we are in a really strong position at the moment, being top of the league. Considering this is our first season as a team I think we are doing fantastic. I think it is ours to throw away now, so just hoping we have a really strong finish to the rest of the season. It would be excellent for us to take the title and win promotion

Who is your clubs joker:  Well think there are one or two people in the team I could mention, that’s including myself. But I would have to say Jon Snell who has recently signed. Having played with him at previous clubs I know what he can be like. You just got to have eyes in the back of your head. He is on the look out for a prank or joke 24/7.

Biggest success in football:  Well I played in a charity match against Aston Villa all-stars which was a great experience and it was for a great cause. It was so nice to play with some of the players I watched when I was younger and raise money for a good cause. But I think when I represented to Royal Navy against the Army and we won 5-1, which at the time was our biggest ever record win over them is up there. I have a few medals here and there but I am in it for enjoyment and love of the game more than success, but winning is nice.

Biggest disappointment in football:  Well this season I have been in 2 semi finals and been on the losing side twice which was not a great experience. But the worst feeling I ever had was in the Royal Worcester Infirmary Cup final for Alvechurch. We were winning 1-0 with 5mins left and we lost 2-1. We were so close and thought we had won just to be kicked in the teeth. I was in a foul mood for a week, and to add insult to injury I got Man of the Match.

Ever been sent off:
Never lol, which for people who know me make take it as a surprise. Also which is even more shocking I have only ever been booked once and that was when I was about 13. I have come close but I just get on with the game. But it could also be I’m just a great tackler haha.

Who do you support:
Aston Villa. I used to have a season ticket but had to give it up due to work commitments

What's the worst piece of advice you've ever been given in life:
Wow that’s a difficult one. I cannot think of one that directly affects me but when I was younger I was play wrestling at a party with my mate and I hurt his leg. He then got advised to take it easy and told he will be fine, he has only bruised it. It was only a day later when he was in to much pain he went to hospital to be told he had broken it in two places … Oops

Describe yourself in three words:
Nice, Bubbly and Aggressive – that is what Adam Malpas thinks anyway lol, but it is not true

Tell us something about yourself that only you know:
I am the Stoat or am I??? (Ed - I think The Stoat will have something to say about this!

What type of music do you like:  I do like a bit of Rock/Metal, but I will listen to anything they put on the radio. I do tend to enjoy a bit of cheese when I’m out having a few drinks on the town. Gives me the chance to throw some shapes on the dance floor.

Favourite Restaurant:
Well I am a qualified chef so can be quite the critic. But I love the Portway House, the Italian food is second to none.

Favourite hobby apart from football:  I like to play a bit of poker now and then but playing Fifa online on my Xbox it a good time consumer.

What's your mobile phone ringtone:  Sabotage by the Beastie Boys….. Great tune

Give us a good website to log onto:  www.nuts.co.uk Everything a man needs

What's the most daring thing you've ever done:
Well being in the Royal Navy I done quite a few daring things. But up there way above the rest, was when I got the chance to go up in a 2 seater Harrier training jet. It scared the living day light out of me. But something I will never forget.

Why do you like the Bromsgrove League:
Well I’ve been playing in it for years, so I just love the fact you start to know a lot of people involved. I have some really good friends who play as well as come to watch.

Worst pitch you've ever seen in Sunday morning football:
Well it will have to be our home pitch at Stoke Prior, the slope is a joke. But worst pitch I ever played on was when I was away with the navy in Africa and played on a farmers field with huge holes in it and the goal post were made from old planks of wood!

What would you do to improve Sunday morning football:
The standard of pitches! In general the standard of pitches is poor and I think the council should do more to improve the standard. It would be brilliant if we could get more money injected to local sports programmes. Even the introduction of a 3G pitch in the area because we could play there when the weather gets the best of the pitches.

What's the funniest thing you've seen on a football field:  Wow there must be a lot of Adam Malpas own goals in there. They just get funnier and funnier. But have to be when the ball got kicked out of play and hit a dog which fell into a brook and took the owner with it. I think the game was delayed for 5mins because everyone was in stitches.

Who should be
England's Number 1 keeper: That’s a hard one, But I have no problems with Green at the moment but think Joe Hart is one for the future.

Capello or Sven:
 Capello all the way

Wenger or
Ferguson:  Wenger, he just has his team playing brilliant football, excellent to watch

Hanson or Lawrenson:
I’d say neither, but will say Hanson as I hate Lawrenson with a passion.

Stubbs or Keys:  Stubbs

Facebook or Twitter Facebook. I think I’m addicted

X Factor or Strictly Come Dancing:
X Factor I always say I won’t watch it. But you can guarantee I’ll be tuning in every week!
