Secretary’s Update – 14th July 2010

Agreement Forms and Affiliation Numbers

Those clubs yet to send me Agreement Forms and Affiliation Numbers are reminded to do so as soon as possible. The deadline for giving me your affiliation numbers is 30th July 2010.

Registration Cards

Don't forget each club MUST register at least 12 players with the League on/before 01st August 2010. This to give the league confidence you are able to start the new season. Registration cards are to be sent to Glyn Lloyd at the address shown on the contacts page. Stubs will be returned to you at the August Clubs meeting or by your first game (at the very latest). Please do not hand in your 12 cards at the August meeting, it MUST be done beforehand.

Pitch Issues
The league continues to discuss with various pitch owners the possibility that we can have additional slots for the new season. We will announce where clubs without pitches will be slotted in as soon as possible. Please bear with us whilst we finalize what is going to be happening. It is extremely frustrating for us, as well as yourselves, the recent rain will hopefully allow pitches to be released into use earlier.

Handbook

The new handbook was successfully sent to the printers this morning and will be ready for collection at the August Clubs Meeting.

Forum and Facebook

Have you joined our Facebook group yet and/or registered on the league's forum? We encourage as many people as possible to join in with these initiatives and help raise the league's profile. Please do not hesitate to engage in banter with your fellow clubs, (but as always keep it clean!)

The Stoat

Our elusive furry predictions guru, who puts Paul the Oktopus to shame, has started to ink his views on next season! We will publish them as soon as they are completed. The Stoat will again be partaking in a weekly challenge so do you think you know the Bromsgrove League better? If so, get in touch with the General Secretary and add your name to the list. We would like to have one person representing each club, each week, we can then run a proper predictions competition, with the winner receiving a trophy.

New Clubs

Would all new clubs please remember to see me at the next meeting to collect their NEW match report books and captains armbands (if not already done so)

Next Meeting

See you all on Tuesday 03rd August 2010 at 830pm!

Football Boots and Charford
Can all teams please remember to not clean their boots out in the showers at Charford. Your help in keeping these facilities neat and tidy will help is much appreciated.

MESSAGE TO ALL CLUBS - UNREGISTERED PLAYERS

The League is becoming increasingly concerned at the number of unregistered players, playing in games in the Bromsgrove League this season - The league is currently investigating another batch of cases from recent games.

Would Club Secretaries please take extra care and attention to ensure that any player that is playing is correctly registered with the league.

Sending a registration card in the post, especially with the current Royal Mail strikes, is NOT sufficient guarantee and evidence that a player has been signed and that the card has been received/accepted by the league.

Should you wish the Registration Secretary to return the registration card docket slip back to you and you can not wait until the next league meeting, please enclose a S.A.E. Alternatively please contact the Registration Secretary by telephone to receive confirmation that the player is eligible to play. We would rather have 100 telephone calls than have to investigate ineligibility cases month upon month.

But remember the Registration Secretary is unable to attend to your query on a Sunday morning from about 9am onwards, so please get organised and seek out the registration situation in advance to avoid potential embarrassment.

In all instances should you have the slightest doubt as to whether a player has been registered or not, then the advice is to not play the player.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Simon Burgess,
General Secretary.

NOTICE

Would clubs sending in registration cards please make sure they are sent in a strong envelope and/or jiffy bag. A number of registration cards have recently been received where the envelope has been ripped, so for your assurance, please ensure you send your cards in a suitable conveyance. The league will not be responsible for any cards lost or damaged in the post and any subsequent registration offences that may occur.

F.A. RULE C – RULES RELATING TO PLAYERS

The notice must be forwarded by Special Delivery or Recorded Post, or a written acknowledgment otherwise obtained. Facsimile or e-mail transmission may be used provided a receipt of acknowledgment is also obtained.

Braces Lane Football Pitch
We have recently received communications from the Local Council regarding concerns around parking in and around Braces Lane when matches are taking place.

We are aware that once the car park is full that parking is limited in the area. However, Local residents have highlighted that some people are parking on the pavements which is restricting access and making the footpaths unsafe for pedestrians.

Please ensure that your teams and players are parking responsibly and where possible please car share.

If the problem persists, the Local Council have advised that they will look into other options such as parking restrictions.

Racial Language

Unfortunately, the league has recently had to deal with a case of Racial Language which was used by one club's player against another club's player.

The league takes these incidents very seriously. The player concerned has been charged by Birmingham County FA and the league, with both charges being proved/admitted.

The player concerned has now seen his registration withdrawn from the league for the remainder of this season and his registration will also not be accepted for the duration of the 2009/2010 season.

We hope this will be the only case that we ever have to deal with, but please take this notice a warning that the Bromsgrove League does not accept any form of racial language/abuse to be used and will continue to serve order with appropriate sanctions as it feels fit, against those charged and found guilty.

League Meetings
It has come to the committees attention that many clubs are continually NOT attending league meetings and offering poor or no excuses.

Given that we recently switched these meetings to bi-monthly ones once the season is up and running, we find it extremely sad that clubs can not make the effort to attend or at least send a representative to listen to league messages/collect paperwork, given most clubs have at least 20 players signed on and a host of supporters.

With effect from the April 2009 clubs meeting, apologies will no longer be accepted from clubs, unless the circumstances are extreme/unavoidable. Please ensure your club is represented in order to avoid being fined.

Simon Burgess,
General Secretary.

HANDBOOK AMENDMENTS
Please remember to email the general secretary with your handbook amendments as soon as they change, you must also advise your local parent County FA with the new details to ensure that your paperwork does not go missing; there will be no sympathy should you rack up a large fine due to non notification of new contact details!

International Clearances

With the large number of migrant workers coming to England from other EU countries, the FA have issued a reminder that ALL players moving countries (including Wales, Scotland and N Ireland) MUST have International Clearance.

This includes players outside the National League System  i.e includes players playing for clubs in local Saturday and Sunday leagues – And it applies to children 12 and over.

A brief guide to International Clearance can be found at www.Thefa.com as well as the full FIFA regulations for the status and transfer of players.

If you have players who are affected by the above, even if they are currently signed for your club, you should contact the Registrations Staff at the FA for further advice. Either via email registrations@thefa.com or by phone on 0207 745 4629/4630/4631/4852/4966

CHARFORD FOOTBALL PITCHES - VERY IMPORTANT

This warning has been received from Bromsgrove Council's Parks and Community Services Manager and summarised below.

On 13th April, the council sent a letter out to all teams using Charford football pitches advising of parking restrictions at Lyttleton Avenue following complaints from Local residents.

They are disappointed to hear that this is still an issue and have had numerous complaints of parking and cars speeding into roads around Lyttleton Avenue. The car-parks that front onto the recreation ground are strictly for residents use only - They are not a parking facility for clubs

Please can you be aware of the parking restrictions for visitors and ensure you find alternative parking to avoid blocking allocated spaces and driveways.

Clubs have been turned away this season due to popularity of the site. Bromsgrove Council are monitoring this situation and clubs/teams identified using residents car parking bays will not be given preference for pitches next season.

Thank you for you co-operation with this matter and hope it can be resolved immediately.

Regards,
Simon Burgess,
General Secretary,

DROITWICH LEISURE CENTRE

May we remind clubs that when they play at Droitwich Leisure Centre, they must be careful where they park their cars. Following problems last year getting the emergency services to the ground, cars must not block the emergency gate at the end of the car park which gives access to all pitches.
There is an overflow car-park as you turn into the complex off the main
road. We would ask that clubs park here and walk to the changing complex as opposed to blocking emergency gates. Thank you for your co-operation with this matter.

FIRST AID

Clubs are reminded of the importance of ensuring they have somebody within their ranks who is trained in basic first aid proficiency. Although the league can not force clubs to do this, it is something we strongly recommend as you never know when you may need it.

Clubs wishing to send someone on a first aid course/sports injury management course are advised to contact Kidderminster Harriers FC’s “Football in the Community” on 01562 823931 who will be able to advise on future courses.
