The Stoat is laughing at you in his hideaway! Not only can nobody find him on a Sunday morning, but he is unbeatable in the predictions contest!

Will Millfields Boca Junior's Mark Bilbrough stop the rot this week? Or will The Stoat make it an awesome foursome?

Profiles are back!
August's profile falls on West Heath Secretary/Cum Striker Jason Gibbons, who admits to being addicted to Facebook, claims he is The Stoat's secret lover and he also supports the Villa. Read on.....

Sunday Report
On a busy Sunday in the league, the centre stage was taken by Queens Head Dons who won the inaugural Charity Shield at Redditch United on Sunday evening, beating their rivals Navigation La Coruna 4-2, in what was a competitive and outstanding advert to the Bromsgrove League.

Craig Barnett fired Navigation ahead early on after a well worked 5 man move but they were pegged back by a deflected shot just before half-time and then Dons edged ahead in the second period thanks to Pete Jones and Dean Palmer. Nick O Connell's penalty levelled matters in the 80th minute after Dons Keeper Dave Anson mistimed a challenge giving the referee no option but to point to the spot. Dons struck back immediately when David Cummings set the marker down for goal of the season, thumping a blistering 25 yard volley into the top corner. A late Duncan Tye close range finish put the gloss on the scoreline and Dons took away the seasons first silverware.

The few league games that took place saw Division 1 Victoria Barnt Green start their seasonal campaign with a 5-2 victory over KPR whilst Division 2 side Cofton Corinthians cemented their place at the head of affairs by beating Hewell Grangers 5-1 (Ian Forman netting twice), although Will Parker was sent off to put a dampener on the result. Rednal Activ's 100% start was also maintained as they won 5-2 away at league new boys Henley United, Carl Shipway netting an impressive hat-trick

The WA Harris Cup also kicked off today with just the one shock result as Division 3 Rubery Athletic beat Division 2 Stoke Prior to set themselves up with a home tie against near neighbours Rubery Cock in Round 2. Ladybird's disappointing start to the season continued losing 2-1 to Bromsgrove Town who have yet to taste a loss this season. Another Rubery side, Rubery, were the days top scorers putting 15 past sorry Arrow Valley, the damage being done with the home side 5-0 up with 12 minutes on the clock. Ryan Sproston helped himself to a double hat-trick and at this early stage looks a good bet to win the divisional scorer award should he keep the same form going.

Golden Lion were given a scare by lower league West Heath trailing 1-0 at the break to returning striker Jason Gibbons goal but Athletic battled back to win 2-1. There were also comfortable wins for Alvechurch Lions, Rubery Cock and Droitwich Town whilst Meadow Park beat 10 man Black Cross Athletico who had Scott McCartney dismissed. Extra time was needed in the Steps Athletic game with Steps eventually seeing off a plucky Rifleman's side 3-1.

Secretary’s Update – 14th July 2010

Agreement Forms and Affiliation Numbers
Those clubs yet to send me Agreement Forms and Affiliation Numbers are reminded to do so as soon as possible. The deadline for giving me your affiliation numbers is 30th July 2010.

Registration Cards

Don't forget each club MUST register at least 12 players with the League on/before 01st August 2010. This to give the league confidence you are able to start the new season. Registration cards are to be sent to Glyn Lloyd at the address shown on the contacts page. Stubs will be returned to you at the August Clubs meeting or by your first game (at the very latest). Please do not hand in your 12 cards at the August meeting, it MUST be done beforehand.

Pitch Issues
The league continues to discuss with various pitch owners the possibility that we can have additional slots for the new season. We will announce where clubs without pitches will be slotted in as soon as possible. Please bear with us whilst we finalize what is going to be happening. It is extremely frustrating for us, as well as yourselves, the recent rain will hopefully allow pitches to be released into use earlier.

Handbook

The new handbook was successfully sent to the printers this morning and will be ready for collection at the August Clubs Meeting.

Forum and Facebook

Have you joined our Facebook group yet and/or registered on the league's forum? We encourage as many people as possible to join in with these initiatives and help raise the league's profile. Please do not hesitate to engage in banter with your fellow clubs, (but as always keep it clean!)

The Stoat

Our elusive furry predictions guru, who puts Paul the Octopus to shame, has started to ink his views on next season! We will publish them as soon as they are completed. The Stoat will again be partaking in a weekly challenge so do you think you know the Bromsgrove League better? If so, get in touch with the General Secretary and add your name to the list. We would like to have one person representing each club, each week, we can then run a proper predictions competition, with the winner receiving a trophy.

New Clubs

Would all new clubs please remember to see me at the next meeting to collect their NEW match report books and captains armbands (if not already done so)

Next Meeting

See you all on Tuesday 03rd August 2010 at 830pm!
